Come Down Come Down Come Down Run Down Run Down Run Down

Now any true M.I.A. fans should know those lyrics.....I know I do. =) Well M.I.A. is back "with a vengeance", as they said in the Express Newspaper, to take over all over again. I happened to hear some of her old music at a surprise birthday party on Friday and I was definitely wondering when she was coming back out with another great album.

Her new album is called Maya which talks a lot about government conspiracies but you must already know that she is going to have all of this over some of THE dopest beats. I personally can't wait for this album to come out. I missed out on buying all of her other Cd's so this one I am definitely purchasing.

Not sure of the release date but I'm sure that won't be too hard to figure out.

Everyday is Saturday Night But I Can't Wait...

FOR SUNDAY MORNING!!!!!

I got invited out to go see K-Os and it was a pretty cool evening. I didn't know half of K-Os' songs except for "everyday is saturday night but I can't wait for sunday morning!!!!'. I remember when my bff Marcus got me hip to that song, we would be singing it as loud as we could in the car....LOLOLOL!!! But all in all the crowd was hype so I feed off of energy and some of the songs had me ready to dance so I am still a fan. I also got his cd thanks to a friend. =) So I will be checking out his new music.

GET ON THE TIGHTROPE!!!!

Thanks to my homie Allan Marco.....he hipped to the new Janelle Monae video. I got to see her perform this song live but the video does even more justice. I can not wait for her new album to come out. This video reminds me somewhat of Shutter Island....I like.

Check it out (pause music on the right)

Can I Get A Window Seat?

I wasn't going to post anything about this music video because it seems to be on everyone's blog but once I found out from reading Mean and Chic's blog that Erykah Badu didn't have any extras in the video, my mouth dropped. That woman is a bad b*tch (excuse my french) but that takes some guts and she definitely sent a message with that video in more ways than one. I felt like she touched on a lot of topics of today and how we are quick to judge something that is different or we don't understand. I don't condon walking down the street naked and walking around half naked in public, just not cool or classy.

I love E. Badu for her boldness.......she is amazing, it goes hand and hand with her music. Her album drops today!

LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nightshade

I’d like to have
a picture of you
like this
in the dark shade,
nightshade

In dreams
You look like this; Real.
So I’m not afraid to touch, to Feel.
Close up on all the lovely ones
that you can only see
in the dark Shade,
NightShade.

Ooh I wanna take u home
But I don’t know what you’re like
In the light
Give me
NightShade

Kiss
me if you want
cause I don’t belong
to anyone.
Fingers moving where they want to be
Free.
keep me dancing I just want to see
You in
NightShade

Ooh I wanna take u home
But I don’t know what you’re like
In the light
Give me
NightShade

You are a lovely one!
NightShade,
DarkShade

Ooh I wanna take u home
But I don’t know what you’re like
In the light
Give me
NightShade

I’d like to have
a little memory of you
In the
DarkShade
NightShade.

Kid Cudi Feat. MGMT (Alternate Version)

What a great combo....I definitely wasn't a big fan of the album but I fell head over heels for this song. I wasn't in the best mood when seeing this video but it definitely caught my attention.

The Black Cat = Two thumbs down

I went to a concert on Monday to see Janelle Monae unaware that the doors wouldn't be opening at 7pm but opening at 8pm and that the show was starting at 10pm which didn't start until 10:20pm (highly upset). This place was very unprofessional and I am hoping that no one that I really want to see has a show there because they might have to count me out.

Janelle Monae on the other hand did amazing. She is like the cutest little person ever. I lover her style, her hair, and I swear she has the best set of teeth I have ever seen in my life (you now know how I close I was in the front...LOL). She did a song called Cold War (def added it to the blog playlist) and I mean this song was so tight....we were jammin for the little bit of time that we could stay because they started so dag on late.

Here is my up close and personal pic of her. My camera on my phone does me pretty well when I'm in a well lit area.

Sound Familiar????

Listen to the first song then listen to the second song....

O-M-G BECKYYYYYY lol

So my friend Allan Marco hipped me to a great artist named Sabrina Washington. The fashion in this video...to die for...I love every piece in this video. Sidenote: Leotards are music video worthy, but should not be worn in a club.

Check out her music video:

Carlitta Durand.....

Who is Carlitta Durand, she is this soulful singer that brings joy to the ears from Durham, NC. I am not saying this just to say it. I first heard her sing at the Art Lifestyle event that I hosted (that was the first time I ever hosted anything). It was a packed house and I had a blast. Carlitta really just caught my eye because some girls sing but she SANG! I loved every minute of it.

She has a new mixtape out and and here is a brief summary about the ep. The whole ep was produced by DC native Vaughn Garcia (of the M1 Paltoon). The ep title wasnt inspired by anything, Vaughn and Carlitta were just brainstorming and started throwing out funny titles and decided to stayed with The Doug and Patty ep. The ep was just a Christmas gift for anyone who would listen. They recorded the ep in one weekend in DC. It was all written by Carlitta.

Here is the link to download the "The Doug and Patty Ep": The Doug and Patty EP LINK

Ke$ha and Yes the $ is a S

So funny how I was just talking about this artist YESTERDAY...I think I can sometimes be a psychic or I have some kind of connection to the way things work in this world of mine, it is definitely a part of my DNA...LOL.

This new artist's album is being critically bashed in the Express paper today. I actually like Tik Tok...it is actually on my playlist for my blog I liked it so much. Hearing her name, you would not even think that she is a young, white female, it throws you off. I am actually looking forward to listening to her album. Her debut song Tik Tok which made it #1 on the Billboard Jan 2 caught me and had me dancing in the car so I wonder what her other tracks will do for me...LOL. I'm checking it out!

Her new debut album is called Animal.

FROM THE PLANET OF THE GREATS

I have been listening to this artists music for a little while now. She is from DC!!!!!! You got to love that and she is definitely from the planet of the GREATS! Her sound is of none I have heard before. Her sound is almost like she was around in the 80's....like it sounds like a record is playing rather than a cd and I like that. I guess you can say I can be pretty old school sometimes. My favorite tracks from her mixtape are The Blast, Blasted, Champion, Clockwork, Geekin, and Silver Lining just to name a few. The mixtape rocks PERIOD!

Check out and download her mixtape on:
