Things to Do This Weekend

This weekend the Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show returns to DC with special events featuring Food Network and Cooking Channel stars and DC-based chefs hosting cooking demonstrations. The event includes appearances by Paula Deen, Bobby Flay and Rachael Ray and local foodies - food and wine pairing with Chef Carla Hall & the Wine CoachR Laurie Forster, cocktails with Todd Thrasher, holiday entertaining with Tara Wilson, product sampling and sales from 300+ exhibitors, workshops, and a beer, wine and spirits tasting pavilion. General admission tickets are $20 in advance and $25 on-site. Full schedule on the site. 10am-7pm, Saturday, Nov. 13 and 10am-5 pm on Sunday, Nov. 14.

The newly opened West End Cinema is a 3 screen movie theater, featuring the best in independent, foreign, documentary, and classic films. The intimate and small theater setting offers a full bar (beer, martinis and wine!) and a wide range of concessions, from popcorn to baklava to gourmet sandwiches to candy.
