G-Town Library Grand Opening #NERDPOST

Schedule of Events

The newly renovated Georgetown Library is open. The library will host a grand opening party, Saturday, October 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fun activities for all ages.

ALL DAY    Discover Neighborhood Treasures at the Peabody Room
Peabody Room librarian Jerry McCoy showcases items from the Peabody Collection.

 ALL DAY  Play “Libropoly” on a life-sized board of Historic Georgetown, sponsored by the Friends of the Georgetown Library

10:30 a.m. Tour of the Library (meet in the lobby)

11 a.m. Jazzy Drawings: Create layered drawings with motifs from the 1930s, for ages 5-11

11:30 a.m. Tour of the Library (meet in the lobby)

11:30 a.m. Washington National Opera Family Program – The Barber of Seville

12 - 2 p.m. Face Painting

12:30 p.m. Georgetown University “Superfoods” Music Group

1:30 p.m. Tour of the Library (meet in the lobby)

2 p.m. Music and Pumpkin Decorating on the Reading Terrace

2:30 p.m. Lecture and Book Signing with Chris Palmer, Author of Shooting in the Wild: An Insider’s Account of Making Movies in the Animal Kingdom

2 - 4 p.m. Beading Workshop for Tweens and Teens

3 p.m. Kids' Euro Festival Performance: Blue Moose (ages 5-10)

3 p.m. How to Make Mulled Cider
