I am trying hard to post past events....January is almost over! Lol! This event was the beginning of the relaunch for Mila & Fire Vintage. These chicks find some of the most amazing vintage pieces. They had some other vendors there such as Alex from ALS, J Carmen Collection, Beads ByAree, Aminah Muse, Kings Rule Together, The Gold Diggers, Demeanr, and Rags to Richez.

Elle Maxewell gave us a great performance with some of her newest songs and DJ Mane Squeeze was on the 1's and 2's and took me back to Junior High School with the old go-go...ha!

This event was filled with goodies. I snagged some earrings from Beads ByAree which I have gotten major compliments on. I need to get another pair for my birthday outfit.

I had a chance to collab with the creator of Defy and put together the styling for the t-shirt entitled MY HEART is HOMELESS. We wish we had video for this shoot. We had a lot of fun, a lot of people driving past in their cars were pretty curious about what we were doing, it was pretty fun.

Trunk Show Series ReCap

I had the pleasure of attending the Trunk Series #Fridaythe13th at Studio 52 Artist Loft. This event was hosted by Gianni Lee and William VaJohn. My friend Jasmine Ward had a part in it as well, glad she is back! The event had a few vendors there such as The Gold Diggers, Madness, Flagship, and Curran J of Kings Rule Together.

We made a $5 donation that benefited SO Others Might Eat (S.O.M.E), a great DC charity that I found out has been serving the homeless for 40 years. Great cause!

They also had appetizers courtesy of Dffrnt Wrld Deli that were AMAZING! It was extremely healthy food that anyone could eat and enjoy and not feel bad about eating. All the dishes were good!

Sushi Taro Restaurant Week Review

I decided that I was going to try out one of the most expensive restaurant so I went through and researched some of the names on the list for restaurant week and came up with one. I choose Sushi Taro which is super small, intimate, and hidden. It is normally $50 and up to eat at this particular restaurant.

They change their menu on different days and offer different types of sushi and deals sometimes on wine depending on what you buy. They even offer flower service on their website. This would be an awesome anniversary spot or Valentine's Day spot for that special someone.

I on the other hand took myself out to lunch since I somehow mysteriously played with the open table system and snagged a table for lunch.

The section I was in was where people specifically there for restaurant week sat, there were a lot of older men there in suits. I guess a lot of corporate people do their business meetings there. It was a pretty interesting place.

But for restaurant week you have a 3 course meal already set for you when you are at this particular restaurant with no substitutions. I can't remember all that I had but it was all super fresh and delicious. There were maybe two things out of the entire meal I didn't care for but super fresh sushi and everything was cooked to PERFECTION!

NYE in a Nutshell

I started my NYE off at a wedding for a good friend of mine. It was really nice and I was soooooo happy for her. Afterwards some of us were hungry and decided to go to a spot on H st which ended up not serving food at the time but we made our way to The Big Board which ended up being amazing! I will be back!

One of the best beers I have had in my life! =)

And then from here, I headed to U St to celebrate my friend/big sister Cheryl's birthday and bring in the New Year. Alero's was a great choice! Good food, great cheap drinks, and great friends. I had a blast and was home before 2am...lol.

I had the pleasure of attending the Andy Warhol exhibit at the National Gallery of Art. I went with one of partners in crime for events. The exhibit was well put together and showed how Andy Warhol used the newspapers as an inspiration to his creations.

I had the pleasure of attending my friend Rhonda's birthday dinner at Dirty Martini. We also celebrated her graduating from Nursing school which I know she worked super hard to get through so KUDOS to you girl!!!

I am going to be late and late with posting events. I changed jobs and time just left me behind this busy holiday season. I had the pleasure of attending an event called Very Motivated Women which showcased a few designers and vintage vendors. Some of them at the event were Gold Diggers, Curan J. of Kings Rule Together, Mila and Fire Vintage, Alex of ALS, and Demeanor.

This event was amazing with the various choices there. I won a bracelet thanks to my lucky number 22 from Goldiggers and bought an amazing pair of vintage earrings from Goldiggers as well for $10. I also got a beautiful bracelet from Alex of ALS

Fotoweek DC Launch Party

On Friday, November 4th I won tickets to attend the launch party for Fotoweek DC. I hardly ever win anything and I was super excited. I had a plus one and had already made plans with a friend so I decided to invite them along. It was some amazing pictures and one that I recognized from DC Fashion Week about two years ago on H St. There was a lot of art work that placed in various contests so it was great to see it up close and personal.

The second part of the event took place at the Corcoran Gallery of Art where there was food because everyone ate all the food at the first part of the event and more drinks to enjoy! They had a dj playing old school which I love. You were able to take a picture at a photobooth which was super fun and then roam the museum that night which was AMAZING! They had an exhibit showcasing the best pieces of some African - American artists but they decided to call it 31 or 51 Americans because the race really didn't matter. It was artwork and it was amazing!

Dandies & Quaintrelles will take to the streets on Sunday November 13 for a spirited ride through the best that Washington has to offer. With help from BicycleSpace, Velocity Cycles Co-op, and D&Q friends, riders will navigate through scenic side streets, historic monuments, city parks and several downtown locales. My Halloween Weekend Re-Cap

My Halloween weekend had to have been one of the best. I started out with a business meeting with a friend and one of two bloggers I am super cool with. We are planning on having an event in 2012...we will keep you guys posted as it approaches.

The next spot I went to was Creme on U Street for my friend's 80's, 90's Halloween Party. When I tell you we had a ball, we had a ball! The dj went in with music from the 80's all the way to the 2000's. It was GREAT.

The next day I went to my friend's niece's 2nd birthday party. The theme was halloween party so they had on some cute costumes. So many little kids....wore me out! I had fun and glad the little one had fun on her combined birthday.

New Farmer's Market on Friday's & The Fillmore

To promote healthier eating habits and more choices for the Capitol Hill workers, they have started having Farmer's Market every Friday. I decided to make my way the first day they had it but I was running a little behind so most of the vendors were closing up shop. I was able to sample a soup that was delicious and that I should definitely try to do my myself.

This is located at 13th and Pennsylvania every Friday until further notice.

Turbans have been around for years and mainly for religious reasons or for various cultures. They started to be seen being worn by celebrities such as June Ambrose who I remember rocking them like a year ago. Turbans have been a trend that some people look at funny but they rock to me. They can make an outfit or give you an edgy look. Turbans can be made out of all kinds of fabric and sizes of fabric.

Men's Vintage Shops in the DC Area

I have taken the hunt of finding vintage finds for guys in the Washington, DC area. I know that there are plenty of spots but I just don't think guys have patience like women to look through loads and loads of clothing that are all different and nothing is alike.

I decided to do some research as well as use my some of my own vintage spots that I have been to many times. There are some stores that have loads of mens clothing and others that have small sections.

I will start out with the stores that I have seen the large sections. The first will have to be Georgia Ave Thrift which is located at 6100 Georgia Ave NW and this store has a huge section for men. You have to take a serious look but you might get lucky.

PollySue in Takoma Park has an entire downstairs portion dedicated to men's vintage wear. They have some pretty unique pieces. I also always find that one piece for myself that is unique and one of a kind.

Another place that will probably have a pretty big selection for guys is the Goodwill located at 2200 South Dakota Ave. I have never personally been inside this thrift store but I remember as a kid, we would drop stuff off here quite often. I would imagine them having a huge selection.

There is a new thrift shop that collects a lot of name brand merchandise that is a part of Martha's Kitchen and it is called Martha's Outfitters which is located on 14th st, not too far from U Street.

Some stores that have small selections but could be worth your while is It's Vintage Darling. I have seen some super cool pieces here for guys. They are quite selective and pick some of the most amazing vintage pieces.

I hope that I was able to cover your vintage needs because I know it can be hard trying to figure out where to go. I love vintage shops and love quality and unique pieces that no one else will have.

I had the pleasure of attending Arts, Beats, and Lyrics which was hosted by Gentleman Jack. This event had live bands, dj's, artwork, and of course drinks. The event was pretty cool even though it took about almost over 30 minutes to get in and by the time I got in there was no more Gentleman Jack. Thanks. -_- But I met up with friends throughout being that I went alone. I knew I was going to run into a ton of people I knew so the night turned out to be fun.

We ended the night by stopping through Muse since I haven't been there in a minute and my friend was working the party. I decided to stop by. How hood it was but I had fun.

Hey Guys!!!!

I have been incognito! I have been on vacation, I needed it! Well anyway I had the pleasure of attending the Bethesda Row Boutique Week which is where I had the pleasure of seeing Dressed. It is a documentary about a guy who had family from Laos that moved to the U.S. for a better life. He grew up in an abusive home until he was put on the street at the age of 14. He went through foster homes while still trying to finish up high school. He did his first clothing line there.

He then graduated and went to college in NYC. He decides to pursue his clothing line with full force. I don't want to spill too much of the documentary but this is when things get real and they get interesting.

I had the honor of winning tickets to see Thunder Soul on Monday which is being presented by Jamie Foxx. It is an amazing documentary about a band of high school students that had an amazing musician/artist leading them. They took their talents to new heights at a young age and made their high school known throughout the WORLD. I don't want to tell too much of the movie, but definitely go and check it out. Whew! How time flies and how I don't ever have much time. I did a few fun things last weekend and didn't take many pictures for some reason. I went to Alero's Friday and invited friends to come out since I am always incognito. We then decided it was too early and walked to Adams Morgan to stop at Soussi....definitely got to go there again. On Saturday I helped my friend with a Trunk Show she did for a Bloomingdale's meeting. It went really well and I must get a bag soon and so should you!

Ok so on Sunday, I had an action pack day. I started it out by going to a Natural Hair meet up at T.G.I. F. which was awesome! I met women with many different hair backgrounds and backgrounds period. It was awesome and everyone talked about their natural hair struggle and accomplishments....it can be hard for some but it is so worth it. There are now so many products for us to use...TAKE ADVANTAGE!!!!

This event was put together with Alex from The Good Hair Blog, Nou Nou from Natural Nou Nou, and Jocelyn from Curly Nu Growth.

We also received gift bags filled with goodies from Mahogany Roots which I have already used and it is great! I might need to make an order soon!

My Weekend Adventures

So I had a chance to slip some fun in last weekend. I made my way to the Lupe Concert on Friday with one of my friends that told me about it a while ago. I almost forgot about it because of all that be going on with work. But Lupe did pretty good. I got to see Wale perform a few songs and he did ok. He needs to have a better set up when performing because it still looks like an "upcoming artist" in my opinion.

Lupe is more on the rock side which I like and some people can't get with it, but if you don't change and try new things, then you will be boring!

The next day I was able to escape for a little bit on Saturday where I met up with my friend Imani that is doing thangs in NY! Love it! I made some new friends at the dinner, it was a lot of fun. Ok this weekend was cool but I missed out on a lot of things due to running late and not thinking things through. Well anyway I arrived in NYC on Friday, Sept 9th and was soooo ready to partake in the festivities. The first stop I made was at a nail shop where I got a $12 pedicure and they did a pretty good job. We then started to get ready for our evening which was over booked and we missed out on a lot of events. We made it to Triple L Society opening of his shop which was cool and they had some nice pieces.

We left this event to try to make it to the Blogger event but we were way too late and went to Rebel which is where we stayed for all of 5 minutes because it was a mess. We later when to Tammany which was the best idea ever! This DJ went all the way in!!!! I mean we partied! I had a blast!

The next day I got up at 9:30am and had to be at Custo Barcelona to intern at 10am. We were running a little late but what an amazing opportunity. I was acting as PR for the day and calling all kinds of people to confirm their attendance. It was pretty awesome but a long, long day. I was supposed to attend a show with my friend but I got us all turned around and we missed it. =( I felt bad.

We decided we still wanted to head out so we went to the Hudson Hotel for the after party for Eva Minge and it was an amazing location. The location was called the Library and they had books made into the wall. Outside was somewhat like a greenhouse/garden It was so relaxing and the bartender made us an amazing drink! It was way too yummy!

When then met up with our friend Shannon at a spot where Manny Fresh was DJ-ing and it turned out to be pretty fun. He played some super old stuff but it was fun! It was so much random funny stuff going on around us which made the night super funny.

My last day in NY was a rush as usual but I got to do everything I wanted this day. I went to brunch with friends at a new spot called Agave which was awesome! I shall be back and hopefully next time the blender works so I can get frozen margaritas. After this I went on my hunt for the Marc Jacobs accessory store to realize it was closed and they combined it with another store. I did find a cool necklace that I got. I also got pulled and convinced to buy some body scrub, we shall see how great it is once I get a chance to try it. It smells really good!

After staying in Soho area for a while, I had to make sure I sure I stopped at the Lincoln Center. Check out my fashionable finds there. =)

DC Fashion Night Out (FNO)

Ok so Fashion Night Out started out super rainy but the evening definitely went on. Our first stop was Brightest Young Things tent.

We created bouquets and made hair pieces out of fresh flowers as they had a DJ going in! And they served St-Germain which is now my absolute favorite! We stayed here for a while and chilled and then we were off! We stopped at Intermix first which is where I formally met @ralph_alston and he was great! Amazing store and the sushi was great!

Our next stop was Nectar Bar but not before we made a stop at the Hitched tent which is where there were mini Sprinkles cupcakes and a name that I can't put my finger on of cake which was very interesting. I am now a Sprinkles fan, I have to go and visit them soon!

We made our way up the long hill on Connecticut Ave to see a store front with live models in their window. We took a few pictures and then finally made it to Nectar Bar which was so worth it! We tried the Oxygen machine which was great and then got a manicure with an amazing bright green color. We snagged a gift bag also from Nectar Bar which was cool.

Through the world of twitter, we found out that free was at Betsey Johnson so we rushed down to see her and were able to get picture with her. She was super sweet and her fro was inspiring me to wear my fro out a little more often.

I lastly ended at Diesel which is where we pretty much sat down and chilled. I snapped a few pictures of the trendy ones around me.

These are the top 10 stores to check out during New York's Fashion Night Out.

On September 8, close to 1,000 shops citywide will keep their doors open until 11pm to offer one-night-only shopping incentives, exclusive products, in-store designer and celebrity appearances—and a raucous good time. Bird
Though all three locations of this fashion-forward chainlet will be hawking Rachel Comey–archive print silk shift dresses ($150) and tote bags ($30) created exclusively for FNO, we’re making a beeline to the Williamsburg location. There, local artist J. Penry will sketch portraits and play records for the opening of his exhibit of bird drawings. The trio of shops will give away tote bags emblazoned with one of Penry’s images and the Park Slope and Cobble Hill outposts will serve prosecco and cookies. Still, that pales in comparison with the snacks from the Morris Grilled Cheese Truck and Tito’s Vodka specialty cocktails only available in Billyburg. International Playground
This boutique collaborated with footwear brand Osborn to allow each of the designers it represents—Soulland, H Fredriksson, Mary Meyer, Study NY and Chromat—to create a limited-edition shoe especially for FNO. The store is also throwing a Guatemalan-themed bash, complete with Illegal Mezcal cocktails and live performances.(internationalplayground.com). 7–10pm.

Wink
Take a basic outfit to the next level with eye-catching baubles from a.v. max and Deepa Gurnani’s bejeweled headbands. Both are being offered at a 10 percent discount at this ultragirly chain’s new Soho location, which will serve drinks all night long. (winknyc.com). 6–11pm.

The Cast
Owner-designer Chuck Guarino will discount his leather-and-denim-heavy fall collection up to 40 percent and give away his edgy hand-screen-printed totes and tees. A DJ and free drinks will officially make it a badass party. (thecast.com). 7–10pm.

Lomography Gallery Store
If you’ve ever been curious about what goes on behind the scenes at a clothing label, you’ll love checking out “From Start to Finish: The Analogue Process of Fashion.” Local designers— Rebecca Turbow, Samantha Pleet and Janet Kim of Graey and Hayden-Harnett—were provided with various Lomography cameras and films to document their design process. JF & Son
To kick off its latest artist collaboration with Amy Yao, this textile-obsessed brand will be hosting a live performance by Yao, and unveil the 13-piece capsule collection of clothing and accessories. The first 150 guests will also walk away with an Amy Yao–designed tote bag containing a poster and a limited-edition Amy Yao x JF & Son lookbook.(jfandson.com). 6–9pm.

Babel Fair
We adore this worldly boutique, which sources its trendy wares from more than two dozen countries. To showcase the fruits of her globe-trotting, owner Erica Kiang is hosting a sample sale, offering up to 75 percent off of hard-to-find women’s clothing brands, such as Aussie labels myPetsQuare and sQ the Label, and Denmark line Nümph. Jessie James
Get a peek at owner Jessica Caulfield’s clothing line, which is debuting on FNO and will be exclusive to the tastemaking boutique. You can also nosh on Mediterranean snacks from Pera Turkish Tacos truck while you sway to the live beats of Wylie, a five-piece indie-rock band from Charleston, South Carolina. Journelle
Support young designers (and your girls!) at this upscale lingerie store, which is hosting a trunk show featuring the latest collections from emerging labels Kriss Soonik, La Fée Verte and Bazsarorózsa. In addition to the select wares offered at a 20 percent discount, there will be a DJ spinning, custom cocktails from the Dinner Belle and a giveaway of $500 worth of underthings from the featured designers. Ok. First of all, what an awesome event!!!! Like I always somewhat look at DC as a fashionable place thanks to my fashionable friends but there are actually others out there grinding in the fashion world. I met some amazing people. I also got some snapshots of some of my favorite outfits I saw at the event.

I kind of wish I got to take more pictures but such is life! This event was put together by DC Fabb which is The DC Fashion and Beauty Bloggers network. This group was founded by Liz Fassbender
(http://somuchtosmileabout.com/) and Lacey Maffettone (http://alaceyperspective.com/) as a way for DC area fashion and beauty bloggers to connect, collaborate and organize events in the DC area.
